Pick your category and price — see the exact referral rate, dollar fee, low-price thresholds and minimum-fee floor, then compare estimated net profit across 3–5 categories. US rate card built in. No login, no data ever leaves your device.
Referral logic: greater of (category rate × price) or the category minimum. Fulfillment logic matches the main FBA Profit Calculator (2026 US rate card, 3.5% fuel surcharge effective 2026-04-17). Verified October 2026.
Tick 3–5 categories to rank estimated net profit at the same price and package. Preselected: three common benchmarks.
| Category | Rate | Referral fee | Fulfillment (incl. fuel) | Typical return rate | Return cost | Est. net / unit |
|---|
Assumptions: same package dimensions and weight used for every category in the comparison; return cost = typical return rate × selling price × 20% (a simplified estimate of refund plus outbound and return shipping loss); product cost, advertising, storage and inbound placement fees are excluded. Typical return rates are market averages, not Amazon figures.
The referral fee is the commission Amazon charges on every marketplace sale, on top of the FBA fulfillment fee. It is a percentage of the total sale price (item price plus shipping and gift wrap paid by the buyer), the percentage depends on the product category, and Amazon takes the greater of that percentage or a small fixed minimum (commonly $0.30). Example: a $25 Beauty sale at the 15% band costs $3.75 in referral fee.
Device Accessories sit at a flat 45%, Jewelry is 20% up to $250 before dropping to 5%, Gift Cards are a flat 20%, Watches are 16% up to $1,500 before dropping to 3%, and Fine Art slides from 20% down to 5% as price rises. Most everyday categories such as Home, Tools, Toys and Pet Supplies are a flat 15%, while Consumer Electronics, Computers and Video Games are a flat 8%.
Beauty and Personal Care as well as Baby Products drop to 8% at $10 or below and jump to 15% above $10. Grocery drops to 8% at $15 or below. Clothing is even lower on cheap items: 5% at $15 or below, 10% from $15.01 to $20, and 17% above $20. A $9 Beauty item therefore costs 8% ($0.72), while the same $25 item costs 15% ($3.75).
Amazon charges the greater of the category rate times your sale price or the category minimum. Most categories carry a $0.30 minimum, which only binds on very cheap listings: a $2 Beauty item at 8% would compute $0.16, but the $0.30 floor applies instead. Grocery, Video Games, Gift Cards, Books/Media and Fine Art have no minimum fee at all.
Profitability depends on the referral rate, fulfillment fee and typical returns together. A flat 8% category like Consumer Electronics keeps more of each sale than a 15% category, but returns eat into it: Clothing returns run near 25% and Footwear near 20%, versus roughly 8% for Beauty and Home.
